The invention pertains to a process for producing slag-forming briquettes to be used in smelting furnaces, in particular in cupolas or other shaft furnaces, wherein the briquette is made from industrially generated dusts or sands, particularly filter dusts or foundry sands, and is characterized in that the appropriate dusts or sands, particularly dusts or sands containing SiO2, are collected, mixed and moistened, that 1 to 10 % by wt. sulfite liquor or a comparable substance is added as binder and that this entire mixture is compacted under pressure in molds, which is then followed by a structural hardening phase. This yields surprisingly stable briquettes that effectively produce slag in smelting furnaces.
|
