PURPOSE: To provide an ink jet recording sheet which has the high printing density of a recorded image or character, excellent ink absorptivity and in which the yellowing of a white part is remarkably reduced and a method for manufacturing the same. CONSTITUTION: An ink receiving layer provided on a support is formed of inorganic pigment having BET specific surface area of 100m<2> /g or more and adhesive, and phosphorus antioxidant is carried in the layer. Preferably, the antioxidant has at least one or more of phosphorous acid structures in which a functional group of alkoxy group or substituted alkoxy group is located adjacent to a phosphorus atom.
