PURPOSE: To obtain a flame-retardant resin composition useful as an electrical wire-coating material, comprising a polyvinyl chloride-based resin, an ethylene- vinyl acetate copolymer, a synthetic silica and zinc borate in a specific ratio and having flexibility and excellently high flame-retardancy. CONSTITUTION: This flame-retardant resin composition comprises (A) 100 pts.wt. polyvinyl chloride-based resin, (B) 5-30 pts.wt. ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (preferably, the copolymer contains 20-60wt.% ethylene and has 10-60 Mooney viscosity at 100 deg.C) (C) 2-50 pts.wt. synthetic silica (preferably, amorphous silica produced by burning silicon tetrachloride and has >=5μm first particle size) and (D) 10-60 pts.wt. zinc borate as main components. A coated electrical wire excellent in flame retardancy can be obtained by coating a metal wire with a polyolefin-based resin and further coating the coated wire with this resin composition. |
