PURPOSE: To obtain an antibacterial plated product free from the generation of discoloration, corrosion and capable of keeping nice appearance by providing a chromium-cobalt alloy plated layer containing a specific quantity of chromium on a metal or a plastic. CONSTITUTION: A cobalt or cobalt alloy plated layer as primary plated layer is formed on the metal or plastic usually with 1-25μm thickness by usual electroplating method or chemical plating method (electroless plating). A chromium- cobalt alloy plated layer containing 6.5-29wt.% chromium is provided in 0.2-25μm thickness thereon using an acidic plating bath containing trivalent chromium and divalent cobalt by electroplating method. As a result, since cobalt ion from the surface plated layer and cobalt ion from the primary plated layer multiplicatively exhibit antibacterial effect, the antibacterial action is extremely improved when compared to the case that a chromium plated layer is formed on the surface.
