A method of regeneration of a conserving waste salt from a through-salting and a hammering of hides deprived of mechanically separable impurities, in which a salt brine solution containing from 0,01 to 26 weight percent of salt and of a temperature from 15 to 95 degrees of Celsius acts on salt. Into the brine it is possible, advantagenously, to add an inorganic acid, of which anion or its part creates chlorine or sulphur at amount of from 0,15 to 7 weight percent, refering to the brine amount. It is also advantagenous to add an alkali metal hydroxide or an alkaline earth hydroxide or hydroxide mixtures, respectively, compounds with oxidizing effect.
