PURPOSE: To obtain an image forming method and a device therefor capable of eliminating the effect of the meandering of a belt-like photoreceptor as much as possible and obtaining a high quality image. CONSTITUTION: As for the image forming device for forming a toner image on the endless belt-like photoreceptor 1 having a prescribed width which is stretched between at least two or more rollers 3 and 4 arranged leaving a space while moving the belt-like photoreceptor 1, electrostatic charger 6 and 7, one or more developing devices 8 and 11, 9 and 12 are respectively arranged on both sides of an optical writing position 16 on the belt-like photoreceptor 1 irradiated with light beams 14 emitted from an optical writing device 13, and the belt-like pohotreceptor 1 is moved back and forth by driving at least one roller 3 so as to be alternately rotated in both normal and reverse directions whenever one toner image is formed on the belt-like photoreceptor 1. |
