PURPOSE: To obtain a new alkenylsuccinic acid emulsion sizing agent having a high concentration, excellent in storage stability, and imparting a high sizing effect to paper also under paper production conditions in a wide pH region and at high temperatures. CONSTITUTION: The emulsion sizing agent having a solid content concentration of >=30% is produced by dispersing in water an effective component consisting mainly of 70-95 pts.wt. of an alkenylsuccinic acid obtained from the reaction product of a 12-18C branched inner olefin with maleic acid and 30-5 pts.wt. of an oxidized wax in the presence of the partial or perfect saponification product of the copolymer of an anionic unsaturated monomer with a nonionic unsaturated monomer or the mixture of the saponification product with an emulsifier.
