The ring 67 slides between the gears 32 17 carrying the arm 65. In this are: the ratchet 68, which engages with the gear 17 in reverse rotation S and is free during the running rotation; the inclined pivot 76 where the piece 73 is articulated; and the sheet 64. During running, the mechanism remains in the position of points 0 because 64 bears on the flexible piece 72 secured to the frame. If peddling is reversed, the mechanism rotates with the gears in the direction S. If the chain C goes on the large gear 32, the sheet 64 enables it to be freed and to fall onto the small gear 17. If C goes on the small gear 17, the piece 73 engages it and mounts onto the large gear 32, which is the situation shown in the drawing. <IMAGE>
