PURPOSE: To stably produce an electrophotographic photoreceptor having no roughness, high sensitivity and high durability by dispersing and incorporating an electric charge generating material into a photosensitive layer in a specified flocculated state. CONSTITUTION: In an electrophotographic photoreceptor with a photosensitive layer contg. at least an electric charge generating material, an electric charge transferring material and a resin binder on the electrically conductive substrate, the electric charge generating material is dispersed and contained in the photosensitive layer in a flocculated state having 0.5-10μm average particle diameter. At least one kind of compd. selected from among a perylene compd., a polycyclic quinone compd. and a fluorenonebisazo compd. is preferably used as the electric charge generating material. The average particle diameter is a scale showing the size of flocculated particles and is represented by the number average of the diameters D of circles circumscribed to the flocculated particles which are several to several hundred times as large as primary particles. It is necessary that the average particle diameter is within the range of 0.5-10μm.
