PURPOSE: To attain a high density recording by arranging a ferromagnetic oxide particle having a prescribed dimension and a prescribed composition so that the C axis has higher perpendicularity to film surface. CONSTITUTION: A high density magnetic recording material is formed by arranging a hexagonal crystal system ferrite fine particle having <=1500Åparticle size with a (111) oriented layer of Au on a non-magnetic supporting body. And the hexagonal crystal system ferrite is the ferromagnetic oxide expressed by the formula. Where in the formula, Me is a metallic element of at least one kind selected from Ba, Pb, Sr, Ca and Sc, Ma is a metallic element of one or more kind substitutable by Fe, (x) is 0<=x<=1, (n) is 5<=n<=6. Then, since the area of 1bit is extremely reduced than heretofore by arranging the fine particles composed of the ferromagnetic oxide having <=1500Åparticle size and expressed by the formula so that the C axis is highly perpendicular to the film surface, magnetizing and reproducing with a MFM head, a high density recording is attained.
