An electrical connector 2 comprises a housing 4 and a contact assembly 9 with two contacting portions 10 and 12 with a separate spring portion 14 there between. The spring portion 14 is responsive to the displacement of at least one of the contacting portions 10, 12 when it abuts against a corresponding conductor. The housing 4 may be in two parts 6, 8 with a channel 16, for receiving the contact 9, and a port 18 extending transverse to the channel 16 for receiving the spring 14. The housing parts 6 and 8 may be arranged to capture the respective contacting portions 10 and 12 when they are secured together and the port 18 may be of a size which allows the spring to be inserted but prevents it from readily coming out. The spring 14 may have two outward directed bowed arms which are linked at one end by a bight portion and abut each other at the other end. <IMAGE>
