Extending table top for furniture - rests on drawer fascia panel when fully drawn out on frame

The extending table or work top (1) has an extending leaf (3) mounted inside the drawer-like frame (12). The upper side (34) of the fascia panel (11) of the drawer is deeper than the surface of the table top (1) by the thickness of the extension plate. When extended, the leaf lies level with the table top and is supported at the back on the frame by one or two tilting fitments (13, 14). At the front, it rests on the drawer fascia panel (11). This allows the leaf to be drawn completely out to lie flush with the table top and yet still have a high stability. Each tilting fitment preferably has a control lever attached to the rear part of the frame (12) which at its front end has a rocker arm (24) which guides and supports an extension rail (17) attached underneath th leaf. A spring biased bolt (28) attached to the control lever (21) acts with a locking member (37) on the furniture unit to secure the plate in the extended position.
