NOISE REDUCTION CIRCUIT AND TELEVISION RECEIVER USING IT

PURPOSE: To obtain a television receiver with a simple configuration and the noise reduction circuit whose memory capacity is enough to be small. CONSTITUTION: A luminance signal still image processing circuit 24 and a luminance signal moving picture processing circuit 26 or the like apply interpolation processing only to a high frequency component of a luminance signal without applying interpolation processing to a low frequency component. A color difference signal processing circuit 40 applies spatial interpolation to a color difference signal without time base interpolation processing. A noise reduction circuit 38 is provided to a pre-stage of a color difference signal processing circuit 40 of a television receiver 10 using a MUSE decoder of a simple configuration. The noise reduction circuit 38 uses a signal of a preceding frame from a frame memory and uses an interpolation processing circuit to conduct interpolation processing and to generate a signal whose sampling phase is coincident with that of a signal of a current field. Then noise reduction is conducted based on the signal of the current field and the signal subject to interpolation processing.
