PURPOSE:To disperse hard spherical carbide finely in a base by obtaining a single phase of austenite by treatment of under heating of high Mn steel then subjecting the steel to a treatment under heating to obtain pearlite then to reheating, a resolubilizing treatment under heating and quick cooling under specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:High Mn steel is subjected to a solubilizing treatment under heating at 1,000-1,200 deg.C to obtain a single phase of austenite. This steel is subjected to a treatment by heating up to 500-600 deg.C and tempering, whereby pearlite is obtained. In succession, the steel is reheated at 4-100 deg.C/min heating rate; thereafter the steel is subjected to a resolubilizing treatment under heating at 800-950 deg.C, whereby crystals are fined. Finally, the steel is quickly cooled to prevent the deposition of carbide at the grain boundaries. By such method, the rigid spherical carbide is dispersed finely in the austenite base, and the hardness and abrasion resistance of the high Mn steel are improved without degradation in toughness. |
