摘要 PURPOSE: To form a substrate having adequate surface roughness and good friction characteristic even if this substrate has a restriction in its temp. by forming a metallic layer having columnar projections and a resin or glass resin layer having through-holes in any one between respective layers constituting a magnetic recording medium. CONSTITUTION: The Ni-PA1 substrate which is worked into a disk shape and is well washed is set in a static confronting type DC sputtering device capable of forming plural films and is subjected to film formation up to a protective film. The substrate 41 is heated to 240 deg.C under vacuum in the sputtering device and a DC magnetron sputtering method using gaseous Ar is used. A Ti film 42 is first formed, then a Cr film is formed as a ground surface film 43, a cobalt-chromium-platinum alloy film as a magnetic film 44 and a carbon film as a protective film 45. A film of perfluoropolyether is thereafter formed as a lubricant 46 at 10Å. The formed columnar projections are about 2μm in diameter and G.Height is 0.03μm in the floating characteristics of the medium. The friction coefft. in 10000 times of CSS tests is <=0.5.
