PURPOSE: To provided the driver of a vehicle with weather information along a recommendable route to a destination together with the route. CONSTITUTION: The route guidance device which guides the driver of a vehicle to a destination from a starting point along a route is provided with a map data section 101 which stores road map data required for guiding the driver to different destinations along different routes and a route searching means 2 which searches the optimum route to a destination from a starting point based on the costs of numerous road links constituting the road map data and prepares the string data of route coordinates. A meteorological area determination means 3 has coordinates used for demarcating meteorological areas and determines the meteorological area to which the route coordinates belong. A meteorological data section 102 stores the update meteorological data. A meteorological situation determination means 4 determines the updated data of a meteorological area to which the route coordinates belong. Terminal equipment 103 transmits the coordinates of the starting point and destination through a communication channel, receives the route coordinate string through the communication channel, and displays the pictures of the route and weather. |
