PURPOSE: To enable switching the functions of a small, simple sensor by which the concentrations of specific components from trace amounts of liquid samples are readily measured, without providing a pushbutton switch on the cover portion of a small sensor main body. CONSTITUTION: A dot of blood is attached to a chip 1 mounted in a sensor main body 2 to measure the blood sugar level, etc. To change the sound volume of a buzzer that is issued during or after the measurement, a battery cover 17 is opened and a battery 18 is taken out. Then the chip 1 is mounted in the sensor main body 2 and the battery 18 is re-installed. When a chip detecting circuit 12 detects the chip mounted, a microcomputer 13 starts to operate, checking to see whether or not the chip 1 is removed in a predetermined time. The microcomputer further checks to see whether or not the chip 1 is mounted in a predetermined time, and the chip 1 is repeatedly installed and removed for the switching of functions. |
