The ball bearing has an apex-free curve line forming the track groove (2). The curve line has, at each point where the contact centre is located, a radius of curvature (rL) which, in the area of the track groove width, forms a variable ratio with the ball radius (rK). The track groove radius of curvature (rL) at point A is equal to the ball radius (rK) and the ratio of the track radius of curvature to ball radius increases towards the edge of the track groove. The radius of curvature (rL) of the track at point A has a maximum value and the ratio of track radius of curvature to ball radius drops towards the edge of the track groove.
