<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of finishing a surface by laser horning capable of improving the finish state and form in the surface of a workpiece having asperities that protrude from the surface. <P>SOLUTION: A pulse laser having a femtosecond pulse and energy sufficient to remove asperities from the surface of a workpiece is directed at grazing incidence to the surface, so that it removes the asperities from the surface.
