Method for restricting channel access depending on subscriber classes and system loading

Subscriber units which communicate with a base station in predetermined time slots within fixed length time frames are grouped into classes of subscriber units. At least one selected class is restricted from transmitting certain types of messages so as to ease system loading when many subscribers are trying to make calls.
