PURPOSE: To raise strength and toughness of an oxide-based nanocomposite complex sintered material while retaining wear, oxidation, corrosion, deposition and heat resistances as characteristics of an oxide, by dispersing a disperse phase comprising an inorganic substance such as a metal, an alloy or ceramic whose surface is coated with ultrafine carbon and/or graphite having particle diameters smaller than those of particles of a matrix composed of an oxide into these particles. CONSTITUTION: This composite sintered material consists of 50-99.5 vol.% of a matrix of a metal oxide and/or a composite oxide and the residual part of a disperse phase which has particle diameters smaller than those of the matrix and is dispersed into the particles of the matrix. The disperse phase and into composition comprise a first disperse phase in which the surface of the particles of the inorganic substance (e.g. Ti or Cr-Ni) is coated with a coating film of carbon and/or graphite or comprises both the first disperse phase and a second disperse phase composed only of an inorganic substance (e.g. a metal of group 4a, 5a and 6a of the periodic table and its mutual alloy). |
