<p>PURPOSE: To obtain a tape remaining time detection apparatus which can simply and correctly detect a remaining time of a magnetic tape. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus includes a frequency generator 18 generating FG pulses and a tape remaining time detector 30. The detector 30 detects each count of FG pulses generated every one rotation cycle of a feed reel 12 and a wind reel 14. The detector 30 calculates a total surface area AT of a tape wound onto both the feed reel 12 and the wind reel 14, selects a corresponding run time of the tape from a storing unit 26, and calculates a remaining time of the tape with the use of the counts of FG pulses and selected run time of the tape.</p> |
