The doctor blade changing process does not require the press to be stopped. The new blade (28) is first brought up to the jacket of the running printing cylinder (14) and laid against it. The old blade is then taken off the cylinder jacket. The new blade is then brought against the printing cylinder in the basic blade position. The device used includes a blade carriage (13), fitted with a turning multiple blade holder (16) with blades in individual holders (24), and guides (12) at a right angle to the cylinder on which the multiple blade carrier can be moved towards the printing cylinder or away from it.
