PURPOSE: To provide the structure of a copying belt sander by which both side surfaces of a workpiece having an inclined shape, a wavy shape, etc., can be uniformly ground polished. CONSTITUTION: Advancing/backing cylinders 10 which control to convert rolls either in an energizing position and in an evacuated position, are linked to contact rolls 5, 5, side surface polishing heads 3a, 3b which make tension rolls 7 being in conact with the inner surfaces of endless polishing belts 4, to energize outward by energizing cylinders 15, are arranged on both sides of a material feeding passage 2 by opposing respective contact rolls 5, 5 to each other, and a detecing switch to detect the tip end of the workpiece is arranged in the upper stream position of the workpiece than a pair of contact rolls 5, 5. A both side surfaces copying belt sander is provided with a timing control means by which respective advancing/backing cylinders 10 are operated when the tip end of the workpiece comes in the position of the pair of contact rolls 5, 5 based on the detection of the tip end of the workpiece by the detecting switch, so that the pair of contact rolls 5, 5 are placed in the energizing position. |
