This invention relates to 5,6-dihydro-4H-imidazoÄ4,5,1-ijÜquinolines of formula 1 <CHEM> wherein X, m, R1, R2, Y and Z are as defined herein, processes for the preparation thereof, and intermediate compounds used in the process. The compounds of this invention display utility as analgesics.
