发明名称 REVERSIBLE CHEMICAL THERMOMETER
摘要 PURPOSE: To reversibly response to temperature change and hold a sufficient time and liquefied condition for observation by diffusing thermally responsive material, which can be overcooled for few minutes and changed from solid to liquid at a given temperature, into amorphous organic compound containing matrix forming material unsoluble in the thermally responsive material. CONSTITUTION: As thermally responsive material, solid solution including o- chloranitrobenzene(OCNB) and o-bromonitrobenzene(OBNB) are used. To cause color change with change from solid to liquid, pinacyanole iodide, quinaldine red, pinacyanole chloride, etc., equivalent to about 0.05% of all composition are added. The OCNB and the OBNB have a melting point range of about 1 deg.F. Matrix forming material unsoluble in the thermally responsive material, including polyisobutylene, low-density polyethylene, amorphous polyprophylene, etc., is about 25-50% and the thermally responsive material is about 75-50%. An overcool stabilizing time for reading can be controlled by putting nucleation agent such as anthraquinone therein.
