PHOTOCONDUCTOR DRUM AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PURPOSE: To form an excellent electric contact area in a photoconductor drum providing a non-conductive layer and also to obtain the electric contact area with a smooth and flat surface without a scratch and also without a chemical residual in the electric contact area. CONSTITUTION: The non-conductive layer is removed from at least a part of the surface of the optical conductive body drum 5 providing the non-conductive layer through the use of a laser beam so as to form the excellent electric contact area 10. It is appropriate that the drum 5 forms the electric contact area 10 by laser etching before or after coating is executed by the both or one of a photoconductor layer 9 and a dielectric (injection) barrier layer. Generally, it is proper to provide the electric contact area 10 to be larger than 1mm<2> but more than 3mm<2> is desirable. The coating of the photoconductor layer 9 is executed in the drum 5 and the electric contact area 10 is provided on the inner side surface of the drum 5.
