Process and device for abruptly reducing temperature in fires

The process is intended especially for use in tackling fires in enclosed spaces, and reduces the temperature of the air or gas through the melting and evaporation of ice particles. The particles are of microscopic size, and are distributed from a well insulated container. A time-delayed, explosive charge or detonating cord, which is small enough to be used in confined spaces, may be used to break down the container in order to distribute the particles. A form of injecting pistol may also be used, which may be operated by a compressed gas such as nitrogen or air.
