PRODUCTION OF ALKENYL COMPOUND

PURPOSE: To provide a method for producing an alkenyl compound which is a raw material for producing naphthalenecarboxylic acid useful as a raw material for polymers such as polyethylene naphthalate and has a high industrial utilization value. CONSTITUTION: This method for producing an alkenyl compound comprises making metallic sodium as a component (a), an alkaline earth metallic salt or a mixture thereof with a rubidium salt or a potassium salt as a component (b) and an aromatic compound capable of forming a charge-transfer complex with the metallic sodium as a component (e) present in producing the alkenyl compound by reacting an alkylbenzene with 1,3-butadiene.
