PURPOSE: To obtain spherical particles of phenolic resin which is useful as a curing agent for epoxy resins or the like and excellent in low friction and storability by dispersing a specific phenol-tricyclo-decane resin in water in the presence of a dispersing agent. CONSTITUTION: A phenol-tricyclodecane resin of the formula (R is H, ethyl, hydroxyl; n is 0-15) is dispersed in water in the presence of a dispersing agent such as a polyvinyl acetate dispersant, a cellulosic dispersant or gelatin to give this dispersed spherical particles of a phenolic resin having 10-1,000μm particle sizes. This resin is added to an epoxy resin as a curing agent to give an epoxy resin composition.
