The carrier has a shaped carrying surface (4) against the wooden components. The carrier surface has a serration (5) consisting of carrier teeth (6). There are depth-limiting wood support surfaces (7) in the vicinity of the carrier teeth, possibly one such surface for each tooth. The teeth provide a positive grip between the carrier and the piece of wood (2) so that high feed force can be transmitted. The carrier is intended for a plate chain in a machine for cutting off wood veneers without stress.
