<p>A rubber hose (16) is coupled to a metal tube (15) by a connector (10) having an inner tubular component (17) which is fixed within an internally threaded sleeve (18) and which telescopes into the end portion of the hose (16). An externally threaded sleeve (19) is rotatable on the end portion of the hose (16) and, when tightened into the internally threaded sleeve (18), engages a nut (20) on the end portion of the hose (16) to force the hose (16) axially onto a frustoconical portion (30) of the tubular component (17), and establish a seal around the hose. The thread (36) of the nut is of opposite hand from the threads of the sleeves (18) (19) to prevent the nut (20) from running off of the hose (16) if the nut (20) is turned during tightening of the externally threaded sleeve (19).</p> |
