PURPOSE:To provide a nozzle for the continuous casting having not only the spalling resistance, and the corrosion resistance but also the sufficient strength. CONSTITUTION:The nozzle is made of alumina and the metal, or the alumina, zirconia and the metal to be obtained by reacting aluminum or its alloy with the electromelting refractory material which has the chemical composition consisting of, by weight, 40-90% Al2O3, 0-50% ZrO2, and 10-40% SiO2, and is formed of one to three phases of the alpha-alumina, mullite, monoclivic crystalline zirconia and the glass phases. The nozzle is obtained through the kneading, the forming and the baking of the aggregate consisting of 10-80wt.% refractory material containing the metal which is finely diffused in the matrix and the matrix material which is mainly composed of the balancesintered alumina powder. The secondary alumina and the metal of the refractory material to be obtained by reacting alumina or its alloy with the electromelting refractory material is richer in the activity than the primary alumina and zirconia, and the strength is improved by achieving the active sintering. |
