<p>PURPOSE: To provide a channel identifier ('master VCN') by using a short index for a packet received through an input port. CONSTITUTION: A channel label for identifying a virtual channel provided in the packet (ATM cell) and a port label for identifying the input port which receives the packet are connected and a long channel identifier is generated. It is divided, the K pieces of keys are generated and the keys are converted to shorter indexes. A master VCN table 94 is searched by using the indexes and the master VCN is obtained. In such a manner, the master VCN is accessed by using the short index inside an ATM device.</p> |
