PURPOSE:To automatically prevent processing operation from being interrupted by a virtual keyboard when the keyboard is not used by providing this character input device with respective specific discriminating means and a changeover display means. CONSTITUTION:Input devices such as a keyboard 8 and a pointing device 9 are connected to an input control part 7. When the virtual keyboard is started, a CPU 2 displays a window of the virtual keyboard or an icon for the virtual keyboard on a CRT 12 to discriminate whether the end of the virtual keyboard is instructed or not. When input using the virtual keyboard is not executed, the window of the virtual keyboard is automatically switched to the virtual keyboard icon for displaying the virtual keyboard on an window. Consequently processing operation is not interrupted by the window of the virtual keyboard. |
