PURPOSE:To provide a production method for an optical compensating sheet to easily produce the optical compensating sheet having a layer to which a discotic liquid crystal is fixed so that good angle of visual field characteristics are uniformly given to the whole display screen of a TN liquid crystal display element. CONSTITUTION:An oriented film is formed on a transparent film 53 and a coating liquid 51 containing a discotic liquid crystal is applied on the surface of the oriented film with a slide coater 52 or slot die coater and dried to form a liquid crystal layer. Or, a coating liquid containing the material to form an oriented film is applied on a transparent film with a slide coating machine or slot die coating machine and dried to form an oriented film, and then a coating liquid containing a discotic liquid crystal is applied on the surface of the oriented film and dried to form a liquid crystal layer. |
