PURPOSE:To improve the operation efficiency of document preparation by determining format values and rearranging document data while maintaining character layout so that a created document is put in one page. CONSTITUTION:A document format control part 8 includes a one-page format alteration control part 11 which makes alterations automatically so that the document being created is put in one page. A one-page format alteration control part 11 includes a format value determination part 12 which determines the format values such as line pitch, character pitch, character size, and margin values so that the document is put in one page and a format data alteration part 13 which alters the format on the basis of the format values determined by the format value determination means 12. Further, a storage part 5 stores document format data 14 containing format information on the line pitch, character pitch, character size, margins, etc., of the document and document data 15 containing document information on the number of pages, the number of lines, the number of characters, etc., of the document. While the character layout is maintained so that the created document is put in one page, the format values such as the line pitch, character pitch, character size, and margins are determined and the document data are rearranged. |
