PURPOSE:To improve the uniformity and the long-term stability of the electrification of the surface of a body to be electrified by making the magnetic brush attaching surface of a magnet member conductive and feeding power to the magnetic brush. CONSTITUTION:In a magnetic brush type electrifying member 21, a magnetic brush 23 consisting of carrier is formed by attaching the carrier being magnetic particles to the outer peripheral surface of a rotatable magnet roll 22 being the magnet member. By sticking a conductive tape 26 to the outer peripheral surface of the magnet roll 22 through a conductive adhesive layer 25, the outer peripheral surface of the roll 22 is coated with the tape 26 so as to make the magnetic brush attaching surface conductive. When the power is fed to the copper tape coating layer 26 functioning as the conductive layer on the outer peripheral surface of the magnet roll being the magnetic brush attaching surface of the roll 22 and DC electrifying bias of -700V, for instance, from an electrifying bias impressing power source is impressed on the magnetic brush 23, the outer peripheral surface of a photoreceptor is uniformly electrified to about -700V. Thus, the surface of the photoreceptor is uniformly electrified and an excellent image is obtained.
