The carbine hook has a C-shaped, load-bearing hook part (1) and a closure part (7) which is pivotably mounted at one end of the hook part, in the plane thereof, is held in the closed position by spring force and, in said closed position, rests on the other, free end of the hook part (1). The portion (9, 10) adjacent to the free end (8) of the hook part (1) exhibits, on its inner side, a two-armed lever (12) which can pivot about an axis (11), running at right angles to the plane of the hook part (1), and essentially follows the progression of said portion (9, 10). The arm (16), of said lever, adjacent to the free end (8) of the hook part (1) rests, when the carbine hook is unloaded, on the hook part (1) by virtue of spring force, and the face-side end (17) reaches close up to the end (18), of the closure part (7), located in the closed position. The other arm (13) of the lever (12) is spaced apart from the portion (10), of the hook part (1), adjacent to it. When the lever (12) is pivoted, the face-side end (17) of the arm (16) neighbouring the free end (8) of the hook part projects into the pivot region of the free end (18) of the closure part (7), located in the closed position, and thus locks the latter in its closed position.
