The invention relates to a process for making ceramic transfer images by offset printing in which initially a first print consisting of premelted glass (flux) and varnish and then one or more colour prints are made on a paper substrate, whereby a mixture of colorants and varnish is used as the printing medium. The aim of the invention is to simplify this prior art process and provide better image quality. This is achieved by the invention in that the first print is abandoned and the first colour print is made directly on the paper substrate, in which the printing medium used is a paste of colorants, highly-wetting varnish and finely ground flux or finely ground ceramic colorant.
