PURPOSE:To provide a hydrogen storage alloy electrode which excels in high rate discharge characteristics and enables the obtaining of a storage battery of a long lifetime by forming the electrode out of a hydrogen storage alloy powder having a specific mean particle size and its distribution. CONSTITUTION:A hydrogen storage alloy powder having a mean particle size of 30-70mum is used as a material of an electrode. Of all particles of this alloy powder, 5-30% by volume should be spherical and/or substantially spherical particles having a diameter two times or greater as large as the mean particle size. Of all, 10-40% by volume should be spherical and/or substantially spherical particles having a diameter below one half of the meaz particle size. Specifying the mean particle sizes and its distribution in this manner allows constructing a hydrogen storage alloy electrode which can provide a metal-hydride alkaline storage battery excellent in the high rate discharge characteristics and having a long lifetime. The alloy powder should preferably be fabricated by the centrifugal atomizing method or gas atomizing method. |
