PURPOSE:To provide a developing device provided with a layer thickness controlling member capable of uniformly and thinly controlling the thickness of developer carried on the external peripheral surface of a developing sleeve in a layered state. CONSTITUTION:This device is provided with a first soft elastic body layer 52a whose surface is brought into contact with the developer carried by the developing sleeve 44b and which elastically pressures the developer against the external peripheral surface of the developing sleeve 44b, a magnetic sheet metal 52b which is integrally formed with the layer 52a and which is laminated on the back surface of the layer 52a, a second soft elastic body layer 52c which is laminated on the back surface of the layer 52b, and a non-magnetic elastic sheet metal 52d whose one end is stuck to the back surface of the layer 52c and which elastically pressures a developer contacting member against the external peripheral surface of the sleeve 44b. |
