PURPOSE:To enlarge the measurement range, to enhance the sensitivity and to extend the life by making a mediator of an enzyme electrode composition from a polymer material. CONSTITUTION:A mediator is made from a polymer material of which molecular weight is preferably in a range of 1X10<3> to 1X10<6>, particularly preferably in a range of 1X10<4> to 1X10<6>. As a preferable polymer mediator, a homopolymer of a redox activity monomer capable of radical polymerization or a copolymer of a redox activity monomer such as a vinyl monomer having a ferrocene or a ferrocene derivative in its structure with the other radical polymerization monomer can be listed. When the mediator itself is made from a polymer, it does not leak into a material to be measured, thereby obtaining an electrode having a stable efficiency. In particular, when using the polymer mediator obtained by radical polymerization, it is possible to make an enzyme sensor with high sensitivity having a remarkably wide measurement range. |
