<p>A thrust reverser for an aircraft, having a podded nacelle (2) housing an engine (4), having a core (5), and a fan (6) producing normally aft-flowing exit streams (7), utilizes a stream director including an annular slot (8) through the outer wall (3) of the nacelle (2). The slot (8) has a convex forward surface (12) and a concave aft surface (13), a cascade of turning vanes (9) in the slot (8) for directing part of the core stream and most of the fan exit stream (7) forward through the slot (8). A jet injector (10a, 10b, and 10c) injects an annular jet of high pressure air into the fan exit stream (7) upstream of, and adjacent to the slot (8), thereby discharging the part of the core flow and most of the fan exit streams (7) forward through the slot (8), the turning vanes (9) and the outer wall (3) to provide a braking force for the aircraft.</p> |
