The unit has two workpiece mountings, one is driven to gyrate without rotation. The drive mechanism has one or more eccentric shafts (19, 20) and an eccentric (57, 58). This is held in a bearing (61, 62), on the moving mounting. In the two-shaft configuration (19, 20), both shafts are driven synchronously, in phase. There is a device to adjust the eccentricity (60) of each eccentric (57, 58); the adjustment is continuous, even down to zero eccentricity.
