PURPOSE:To provide an indoor unit for an air conditioner which can obtain comfortable air conditioning by forming a drain pan structure of sufficient height capable of completely receiving drain water generated from a heat exchanger on the premise of providing the exchanger to be formed in an inverted V shape and preventing splashing of the water into a room to be air conditioned. CONSTITUTION:The indoor unit for an air conditioner comprises a unit body 1 having a front panel 2 and a rear plate 3, a heat exchanger 5 having a front side heat exchanging unit 5B formed in an inverted V shape as seen from its side and a rear side heat exchanging unit 5A disposed at this rear side, and front and rear drain pans 6b, 6a disposed at the lower parts of the front and rear side heat exchanging units for forming the exchanger. The rear drain pan disposed under the rear side exchanging unit is molded separately from the rear plate, and mounted fixedly at the rear plate.
