PURPOSE:To provide an electrochemical gas sensor, by which the sensitivity of the electrochemical gas sensor can be corrected and the life thereof can be declared. CONSTITUTION:In an electrochemical gas sensor, a hydrogen generating element 4 is installed between a vent hole 3c for moisture and a gas sensor element 1, and the hydrogen generating element 4 is an electrolytic element 5 having electrodes 4b, 4b which are provided on both sides of a solid state electrolytic layer 4s and connected to a d.c. power supply 17. The sensor is provided with a hydrogen generation control means for controlling the d.c. power supply 17 to cause the hydrogen generating element 4 to periodically generate a designated quantity of hydrogen and a sensitivity correcting means for correcting a gas output signal for an object gas according to a hydrogen output signal of the gas sensor element 1 based on the generated hydrogen. Further, the sensor is provided with a life declaring means for generating a signal when a hydrogen output signal becomes less than a preset value. |
