PURPOSE:To reduce effects on battery life to a minimum without increasing a mounting space by applying to the gate electrode of a switching element the constant voltage of a first constant voltage generating element that divides the charging voltage of a main capacitor. CONSTITUTION:A booster circuit 2 is driven by a control signal input to its terminal Pa, and a voltage applied to a diode 3 is raised by the amount of energy stored in a main capacitor 6. An output from a voltage detecting circuit 5 is issued from a terminal Pb and monitored, and when a charge stopping voltage is reached a signal to turn off the circuit 2 is inputted from the terminal Pa to stop action. When an emission starting signal is inputted to a terminal Pc, a trigger circuit 7 starts to operate, a high voltage is outputted to the terminal Pt of a discharge tube 8 to lower the impedance of the tube 8, and a current flows from the capacitor 6. An IGBT 9f is turned on by a voltage produced in a voltage regulation diode 9h and therefore forms a discharge path, and the tube 8 starts to emit light. |
