Uniform sizing of warps or coating of fabrics

A process and appts. are claimed for sizing of a fabric warp or coating of a textile fabric. The process involving use of a size liquor at constant temp. and concn., which has had its viscosity set to a predetermined value using a viscosity control device and maintained at that value. Pref. viscosity is set to 150 MPa.s at 80 deg C using a 3-5 wt.% aq. soln. of a thickener, esp. substd. PVA, acrylates, cellulose derivs., polysaccharides and/or alginates. In particular, a liquor contg. PVA and carboxymethyl starch is used, esp. one with a concn. of 10 wt.%.
