PURPOSE:To obtain both of high resistance and low heat capacity of a honeycomb carrier, to activate the catalyst with small electric power in a short time, and to improve its durability. CONSTITUTION:This catalyst convertor is a self-heating type one to be disposed in the route of exhaust gas from an engine. The honeycomb carrier which carries the catalyst material consists of flat plates and wavy plates of metal foils. Slits 2a, 3a as a mesh-like aperture are formed in at least a part of these plates. The honeycomb body is provided with electrodes 12 (12a, 12c), 22 (22a, 22c) which enable application of an electric current on the slit part in the axial direction of the honeycomb body. These electrodes are joined with rings 8, 9 attached around the honeycomb body. A part of the electrode is formed as a rod electrode 12a which projects outside through an engaging hole of an outer cylinder 13 and fixed to the outer cylinder 13 with insulating members 14a, 14b and gasket members 15a, 15b. |
